Mitchell Estimating Backup and Restore

This section is a guideline for backing up your UltraMate Collision Estimating System. Please be aware that running the UltraMate Technical Assistance Utilities alone will not backup archive data or any other Mitchell application files.

Warning: Improper use of the UltraMate Technical Assistance Utilities could cause loss of user data or require UltraMate to be reinstalled or reconfigured. Mitchell recommends your computer consultant or system administrator perform this procedure.

Procedure to manually backup databases

The Technical Assistance Utilities should be the primary method of backing up UltraMate databases but the databases can also be manually backed up. A manual backup is recommended as an optional secondary backup to prevent accidental loss of data. To create a manual backup, it is recommended a copy of the following folders be created. It is required that each sub-directory be included with all of the files it contains.  Do not attempt to take individual files from these directories.

Note: Replace x: with the drive letter where UltraMate is installed. (Single-user install is on C: Multi-user is typically on M: but can vary)

Critical Files - See 'Definitions of UltraMate Folders' below.

x:\mitchell\aces\archive

x:\mitchell\aces\lexicon

x:\mitchell\aces\longexp

x:\mitchell\mapp

x:\mitchell\userdata

Non-Critical Files - See 'Definitions of UltraMate Folders' below.

x:\mitchell\aces\export\

x:\mitchell\aces\image\

x:\mitchell\aces\import\

***Important: UltraMate should be installed before restoring any databases.
