Notes on noise or unusual handling charac‐teristics.

Make sure there are no vibrations, noisesorunusualhandlingcharacteristics whenthe vehi‐cle is in motion. This may indicate that thewheelsor tires are damaged. Hidden tire dam‐age couldalso be causing the unusualhandlingcharacteristics. If you suspect that a tire is malfunctioning, reduceyour speed immediately and have thetires and wheels checked at a qualified specialistworkshop.

Notes on regularly inspecting wheelsandtires.

WARNING: Risk of injury through damaged tires

Damaged tires can cause tire pressure loss.

-Check the tires regularly for signsofdamage and replaceany damaged tires immediately. WARNING: Risk of hydroplaningdue toinsufficient tire tread

Insufficient tire tread will result in reducedtire grip.

In heavy rain or slushthe risk of hydroplaningis increased,in particularwhere speedis notadapted to suit the conditions.

-Thus,you should regularly check thetread depth and the conditionof thetread across the entire width of all tires.

Minimumtread depth for:

Summer tires:1/8in (3 mm)

M+S tires:1/6in  (4 mm)

-For safety reasons, replacethe tiresbefore the legally-prescribed limit forthe minimumtread depth is reached.

Carry out the following checks on all wheelsregularly, at least oncea month or as required, forexample, prior to a long journey or driving off-road:

Check the tire pressure

Visually inspectwheelsand tires for damage.

-Check the valve caps.

-Visual check of the tire tread depth and thetire contact surface across the entire width.

The minimumtread depth for summertires is 1/8in (3 mm) and for winter tires 1/6in(4 mm).

Six marks 1 show where the bar indicators(arrow) are integrated into the tire tread. They are visible once a tire tread depth of approx‐imately 1/16in (1.6 mm) has been reached.

Notes on snow chains

WARNING: Risk of accident due to incor‐rect mountingof snow chains

If you have mounted snow chains to the front wheels, the snow chains may drag against the vehicle body or chassis components. This could cause damage to the vehicle or the tires.

-Never mount snow chains on the front wheels.

-Only mount snow chains on the rear wheels in pairs.

Observe the following notes whenusingsnowchains:

Snow chains are only permissible for certain wheel/tire combinations. You can obtain information about this from an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.

For safety reasons, only use snow chains that have been specifically approved for your vehicle by Mercedes-Benz, or snow chains with the same quality standard.

If snow chains are installed, the maximum permissible speed is 30 mph (50 km/h).

Vehicles with Active Parking Assist:Do not use Active Parking Assist when snow chains are installed.

Vehicles with level control:If snow chains are installed, only drive at raised vehicle level.

You can deactivate ESP®to pull away. This allows the wheel stos pin, achieving an increased driving force.

How to Repair BMW E90 Heated Steering Wheel Malfunction

Immediately following a cold start, if the heated steering wheel is switched on in addition to other electrical consumers (i.e., heated seats, rear defroster, etc.), it may switch off after 5-10 seconds of operation. This is an intermittent situation. Cycling the key will typically restore function.
